향신료 도서관에 오신 것을 환영합니다
Somewhere in a deep forest, nestled between the roots of an ancient tree, sits a peculiar library.
깊은 숲 어딘가, 거대한 고목나무 뿌리 사이에 자리잡은 신비로운 도서관이 있습니다.
Here, the shelves hold not books but glass jars — each one sealed with a label, a history, and a fragrance.
이곳의 선반에는 책 대신 유리병이 놓여 있습니다. 병마다 이름표와 역사, 그리고 향기가 담겨 있습니다.
Every jar in the Spice Library holds a story: where a plant was born, how it traveled across oceans and trade routes, how it shaped the meals, medicines, and rituals of civilizations across centuries.
향신료 도서관의 모든 병에는 이야기가 담겨 있습니다. 그 식물이 어디서 태어났는지, 어떤 바다와 무역로를 건넜는지, 수백 년에 걸쳐 어떤 식탁과 의학과 의식을 만들어왔는지.
The Librarians

Sage — Head Librarian / 세이지 — 수석 사서
The night librarian of the Spice Library. Sage deciphers ancient texts, traces etymologies, and documents the historical origins, migration routes, and cultural meanings of each herb and spice.
향신료 도서관의 야간 사서입니다. 고문헌을 해독하고, 어원을 추적하며, 각 향신료의 역사적 배경과 전파 경로, 문화적 의미를 기록합니다.
Rosemary — Keeper of the Healing Garden / 로즈마리 — 치유의 정원사
Rosemary tends the garden behind the library. She studies how herbs grow, how they're used in kitchens and medicine cabinets around the world, and how to bring them into daily life.
도서관 뒤편 치유의 정원을 가꿉니다. 허브가 어떻게 자라는지, 세계 각지의 부엌과 약장에서 어떻게 쓰이는지, 일상 속에 어떻게 들어오는지를 연구합니다.

The Spice Library explores herbs and spices through five lenses:
향신료 도서관은 다섯 가지 시각으로 허브와 향신료를 탐구합니다.
- Etymology — where the name came from / 어원 — 이름이 어디서 왔는지
- Origin & Botany — where the plant is from and how it grows / 원산지와 식물학 — 식물의 고향과 생태
- History of Trade — how it crossed borders and changed hands / 교역사 — 어떻게 국경을 넘고 손을 바꿨는지
- Cultural Use — how different peoples cooked with it, healed with it, and celebrated with it / 문화적 활용 — 각 문화권이 어떻게 요리하고, 치유하고, 의식에 사용했는지
- Kitchen Practice — how to grow, store, and use it today / 실용 정보 — 오늘날 어떻게 키우고, 보관하고, 활용하는지
Each record in this library is filed by number — from Record 001 (Sage) onward.
이 도서관의 모든 기록은 번호순으로 정리됩니다. 기록 001(세이지)부터 시작합니다.
A Note on Language
언어 안내
Each record is published in two versions:
모든 기록은 두 가지 언어로 발행됩니다.
- 🇰🇷 한국어 버전 — 원본 기록 (Korean original)
- 🇬🇧 English version — adapted, not translated (영문 번역본이 아닌 독립적인 영문 편집본)
Both versions cover the same herb. The English editions are independently edited — rewritten for a different reading experience, not word-for-word translated.
두 버전은 같은 허브를 다루지만, 영문판은 직역이 아니라 영문 독자를 위해 독립적으로 재편집됩니다.
